Lance Corporal - A.I.F. 2/22 Battalion

Died: 23 January 1942

Son of William Alfred and Winifred Annie Copas of Moonee Ponds, Victoria.

Ormond Copas was a good friend of Jack and Bob Russell before the war, as teenagers, through training and at Rabaul. He died on the 23 January 1942 while on a truck with Graham Parsons and three others. All were killed by machine gun fire except Graham, who although wounded managed to escape.

The Copas and Russell families donated a memorial window at the Aberfeldie Memorial Church to Ormond, Jack and Bob.
